Yachtko

Why this exists

Yachtko started with a Google Sheet. Specifically, someone else's.

We do the search and advertising work for a yacht charter company in Dubai. Somewhere in the second month, they opened the file that runs their business: one sheet, twenty tabs, colour coded by hand. Bookings on one tab, boats on another, a third with owner names and numbers that only made sense to the person who typed them.

They knew what they had taken in that month. They could not tell us what they had kept.

The gap nobody had filled

We looked at what was available. There is a lot of charter software. Almost all of it was built for the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, where a charter is a week long, the customer sails the boat themselves or with one crew, and the company owns the yacht in the marina.

The Gulf does not work that way. Charters here are three hours, not seven days. They are always crewed. A boat can run five or six trips between morning and midnight on a good Saturday. Half the yachts a company sells belong to a different company, bought at a net rate and resold at retail, with the customer never knowing there were two businesses involved. The whole thing is arranged on WhatsApp and priced in dirhams.

Software written for a week long bareboat charter in Croatia cannot describe any of that. So operators do what they have always done and open a spreadsheet.

What this yacht charter management software is

A back office. Bookings, availability, costs, suppliers, crew, quotes, invoices, and a profit number you can defend.

It is not a marketplace and it will never send you customers. It is not a booking engine that takes a slice of every charter you sell. You keep your own demand, your own website, your own WhatsApp number. We charge a flat monthly fee and take nothing from your bookings.

What it deliberately does not do

  • No manual availability toggle. Availability is calculated from bookings. A checkbox you set by hand is a spreadsheet with a login screen, and it cannot prevent a double booking.
  • No revenue per yacht as a headline. Revenue per yacht is a vanity number. Every fleet has a boat that books constantly and loses money. We report profit.
  • No payroll or HR. Wage protection and labour law are not our field, and pretending otherwise would put your business at risk, not ours. Crew cost per trip is tracked as an expense. That is the line.
  • No claim of tax compliant invoicing. The PDF invoice is a document for your customer. UAE e-invoicing runs through accredited providers on a published timeline, and we will say plainly when we connect to one.

Who is building it

A small team out of Kuwait, working directly with charter operators in Dubai rather than guessing at what they need. The first version is being shaped by the people using it. If you run boats and something here is wrong, we would rather hear it now than after we have built it.
